Blackberry 7520 Specs

Research In Motion Ltd. has a way to remotely retrieve e-mail: a handheld device with Blackberry 7520 Software. It is an all-encompassing hardware, software and service solution designed for grabbing e-mail and PIM data from users' desktops.

Users of Microsoft Corp. Exchange Post Office Protocol 3 e-mail accounts can read, respond to and redirect e-mail from the Blackberry 7520 Software. With built-in filter applications on the desktop, users can specify which e-mail messages are to be forwarded to the device.

Products most comparable to BlackBerry are Motorola Inc.'s PageWriter 2000X and 3Com Corp.'s forthcoming Palm VII. However, those devices require a proprietary e-mail address. In addition, the Palm VII is designed to be more of a personal information manager, and the PageWriter 2000X is designed to be more of a two-way pager.

Contact information is handled by using Puma Technology Inc.'s Intellisync software. Intellisync can synchronize BlackBerry data with Microsoft's Schedule +, Lotus Development Corp.'s Organizer 97, Microsoft Outlook 97/98 and Symantec Corp.'s Act via the docking station cradle.

"After two months [of testing], I'd found a device that I've been talking about, writing about and hoping for during the past three or more years," said Andrew Seybold, senior partner of The Andrew Seybold Group LLC, in Walnut Creek, Calif.
