Blackberry Customers Know Their 7250

RIM is seeking injunctive relief and cash damages. Mike Abramsky, senior technology analyst for wireless software, at Canaccord Capital in Toronto, said RIM will have to continue to introduce technological innovation in order to maintain its position as a market leader.

Cognos has agreed to develop software for a blackberry 7250 for Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry wireless e-mail device. The first part of alliance involves support for Cognos NoticeCast by BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds. The companies said BlackBerry customers will benefit from the interplay of Cognos' business analytics and NoticeCast's unique narrowcast, push-type business intelligence capabilities.

NoticeCast, integrated into the Cognos Series 7 business intelligence framework, allows organizations to monitor and alert information in transactional or operational systems such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), supply chain management (SCM), customer relationship management (CRM), or any relational data store. Designed for use by business and technical users, software for a blackberry 7250 notifies and alerts decision-makers to issues with customer relationships, supply chain activity, sales and financial performance, or any other business event.

The emerging leader in the creation of wireless application software for professional service firms, Wireless Verticals, Inc. announced today that the law firm of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky and Walker LLP is implementing its MobileTimeBilling (MTB) solution on Research in Motion wireless BlackBerry(TM) devices. The project will include 7 offices across the U.S. and involves 250 attorneys.

Paul, Hastings is one of the largest law firms in the world, with over 800 attorneys practicing in nine different locations around the globe. The law firm worked closely with Wireless Verticals on a needs analysis of the available hardware and software to ensure seamless integration and field use.

"MobileTimeBilling's interface is extremely intuitive and allows attorneys the ability to enter time and review time spent on a particular matter while on the road," commented Mary Odson, Chief Information Officer at Paul, Hastings. "Our attorneys are more mobile and rely on the BlackBerry to maintain communications with clients via email, contact information, voicemail and fax notifications. Many of our internal systems rely on time entries to provide real-time partner inquiry capabilities so the importance of getting time into the system has become crucial."

"This is the type of application that will drive other firms to wireless adoption," commented Andrew Seybold, Editor and Publisher, Forbes/Andrew Seybold's Wireless Outlook. "
